Did you know that history of the McKinney Public Library goes back over 130 years? In 2023, the library began exploring options to renovate the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library to ensure we can meet the community’s needs for the next 10-20 years.

The goal of the library renovation is to transform the library into a dynamic community centerpiece that extends the downtown experience and serves as a gateway to McKinney's rich cultural landscape.
Activities:
- City staff worked with 720 Design to begin exploratory design options.
- Public input was collected to guide the design exploration.
- Staff input was collected to inform the design requirements.

Library Usage:
The Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library accounted for 4% of all visits and visitors to the Historic Core area in East McKinney, Smith said. Hall Library averages between 2,500-3,000 unique borrowers each month. The goal is to see an additional 100,000 visits annually after the renovation.
